Too much rock at the Bieber show, that’s what’s up. Well, maybe not. But either way, Justin Bieber is the target of a 9.2 million dollar lawsuit. Yikes.
Stacey Betts is suing the singer for allegedly damaging her ears. But not from his songwriting, rather from the volume of the show. Back in 2010, Betts attended a Bieber show with her daughter in Oregon and is now claiming she’s suffering tinnitus and hyperacusis – ringing in the ears and a hypersensitivity to sound.
Court papers claim that the injury occurred when Bieber got into a heart-shaped gondola that whisked him over the crowd. The complaint states: “Mr. Bieber created a wave like effect of screaming by pointing in various sections of the arena. Then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving him arms in a quick and upward motion, whereas I was struck with a sound blast.” A “sound blast?” Was she fighting one of the X-Men?
Anyway, the suit names Bieber - along with his record company, Island Def Jam; the concert promoter AEG Worldwide; and the owner of the venue, Vulcan Sports Entertainment. Bieber’s reps have not commented.
Oh yeah…. Bieber was also named to the Forbes list of highest paid entertainers under 30, with a reported 55 million dollars in earnings between May of 2011 and May of 2012.
Well then.
